Tirone David Symposium on Operative Techniques
The Tirone David Symposium, led by program directors Maral Ouzounian, MD, PhD, and David Adams, MD, focuses on operative techniques in valvular and aortic surgery and highlights Dr. David's career and immense contribution to the cardiac specialty. Each session included a State-of-the-Art Lecture, several video technique lectures, interactive, complex case scenarios, and panel discussions with experts in the field. Below is a curated archive of the papers inspired by this symposium that have since been published in AATS Journals.
Tirone E. David, MD
Dr. Tirone E. David is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto and the holder of the Melanie Munk Chair of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre. Dr. David has published more than 480 scientific papers, 43 chapters in medical textbooks as well as 6 surgical textbooks. He has developed numerous operative procedures to treat patients with heart valve disease, complications of myocardial infarction, and thoracic aneurysms and prospectively followed these patients during the past 4 decades. He received the Order of Ontario in 1993 and the Order of Canada in 1996, the highest honor given to civilians in Canada.
